1.    Speech Marathon in Bad Homburg (HOT: next Tuesday)

Taunus Toastmasters warmly invites fellow toastmasters and friends in the areas F3 and F4 to attend our Speech Marathon. We will offer a smorgasbord of eight speeches: The speech projects # 2,4,7,8 and 9 from the Competent Communicator manual and the Advanced Manuals, Storytelling #1, Humorously Speaking #1 and Speaking to inform #5.

With so many of our club members speaking, we are looking for support from other clubs to fill the role of evaluator as well as others such as timer and um/ah counter. Use this as an opportunity to progress in your Competent Leadership Manual.

When: Tuesday, 31  January, 7 pm – 9:15 pm

Where: Feuerwehrgerätehaus Ober-Eschbach, Kirchplatz 1, 61352 Bad Homburg

Map: click here and look for the red pin

Contact:, mob. 017647588986

2.    Club Officers Training in Bad Homburg

On 18 February the Club Officers Training will take place for, you guessed it: club officers. But also for Toastmasters, who want to candidate for a leadership position in their club.

This is a joint event with our colleagues from F3 (Darmstadt, Mainz, Wiesbaden). So, this is an excellent opportunity to network with the most ambitious Toastmasters in the Rhine Main area. You will find the agenda here:

Everybody has to help a bit with the catering. Everbody brings something to eat. In other words, it is a potluck lunch and coffee break. Smile . Beverages and the room rent will be covered by the admission fee of 5 Euro. (you will receive more details after you have registered here)

When: 18 February, 2017, 10 am to 4 pm

Where: Peter-Schall-Haus, Elisabethenschneise 2, 61350 Bad Homburg.

The location is unfortunately on the outskirts of Bad Homburg. It is advisable to come by car. Alternatively, you can take bus no 11. Take the bus from Bad Homburg Bahnhof and exit at “Bad Homburg v.d.H. Dornholzhausen Stadtranderholung”.

3.    Contest season ahead

The contest season is about to start! We are looking forward to the International Speech (English and German) and the Evaluation Contests (English and German).

Some of you will be contestants. For all other Toastmasters this means, I need you urgently. I know, some of you think, being a judge really stinks. Because you are responsible for selecting the winner.

That is true. But you also grow with responsibility. This is especially true, when we determine our area champions. We need a jury with members from each club in the area to have a really fair contest. There is only one prerequisite: you must have given six speeches of the Competent Communicator manual. Piece of triple chocolate cake!

The date of the English Area Contest: 5 April, 2017. Our host is Business Club Frankfurt Toastmasters. Registration:

The date of the German Area Contest: 29 March, 2017. Out host is Rhetorik Club Frankfurt. If you want to take on a role you can already contact the chief judge of this contest: Riyad Salhi. Registration:

After the area contests the division conference is not far away in Bad Homburg. My home club Taunus Toastmasters has taken over the organization of the division conference. Please save the date 22 April, 2017. The speeches at division level are really worthwhile.

4.    Berlin

The cherry on top: The District 95 Conference will take place this year from 19 May to 20 May in Berlin. It is one of the last occasions to experience such a conference in Europe. From 2018 the districts in Europe will be redistributed. Germany will then be part of a much smaller district with the Scandinavian countries. Those who go to Berlin in May, on the other hand, will experience a conference with participants from 18 nations. And we are all toastmasters, so you get to meet a lot of interesting new people. What’s more, the workshops at district conferences are of the finest quality. And, of course, you will experience how our district champions are chosen.

Register today! :

5.    CharitySpeakers

I have to admit, CharitySpeakers is on ice right now. But with the coming thaw, we will continue. If you need more information just go to:

6.    New clubs

We currently have two exciting new club initiatives:

Rhetorik Manager

Anja Pohl is working to charter Rhetorik Manager im Haus des lebenslangen Lernens. If you are in Dreieich or the surrounding area, you might want to support this club right at your front door. Further information:

Advanced Club Rhein Main

Anyone who has already achieved her CC is perhaps looking for challenges that her home club cannot offer her. For those, the so-called Advanced Clubs at Toastmasters is the solution. Feedback sessions are more intense there. The same speeches are held several times to incorporate colleagues' suggestions for improvement. And much more. Therefore, you should try out the new club run by Matthias Caton.

The meetings take place at Saalbau Südbahnhof in Frankfurt am Main. Please find further details here:

7.    Hessentag

I have been commissioned by the city of Rüsselsheim to find 24 speakers for a Speaker's Corner at the Hessentag in June (9 June - 18 June). Most of these slots have already been assigned. But, I also convinced them to agree to three Toastmaster demo meetings. I can only warn you, it will be awesome. We have the opportunity to bring the idea of Toastmasters to an audience from all over Germany (the last Hessentag had 1 million visitors). So, if you are looking for a special experience, you should contact me.

8.    What’s more

There is a Facebook group where you will always get current information about our division:

Dear Officers,

finally we found the location for our area COT in Bad Homburg. I am tremendously thankful to Kees Broos who made this possible.

On Saturday February 18th 2017 we will have our club officers training at the following address:

Peter-Schall-Haus, Elisabethenschneise 2, 61350 Bad Homburg.

Our Training will start at 10:00 and ends at 16:00.

The location is at the outskirts of Bad Homburg, so it might be wise to drive there by car.

I will let you know further details soon!
