Komkommertijd - but 5 high-class speeches!

Aly entertained us with a convincing conversation with her imaginary friend, the robot. Gertjan gave a last speech about the history of the world, and the possibility of intelligent life on this earth. This was his 10th CC speech, so we can congratulate him with his CC! Daniel told us about his very first memories, how fleeting they are in the mists of his youth, but how significant they should really be, when seen in the perspective of his family history. He ended it with a climactic sniff of the smell in the ancient towell that his mother bought for him: his first memory. Leo treated us to a spectacular and very entertaining declamation of two quite different poems written for children. A poetic juxtaposition.  Peter Zinn had a lively story describing how he bragged to his little son that he was going to dive into the cold sea. Thereby forcing himself to actually do it. He used this as an illustration of his theory that good stress is the kind of stress you create for yourself, to give yourself that little necessary push towards glorious creativity. No glory no story!

This gave 5 evaluators quite a challenging job to produce the evaluations that keep improving the quality of our speakers. And then we were treated to a table topics session from Andrea, who only become a member in june, and has used the summer lull in speeching activity to already finish three speeches. She forced us into some trivial news reporting weirdness - fun!

Oh: and at the awards, Pter Zinn received a pin as recognition from our present and past division governors to laud him for being an allround entertaining guy at last year's area and division contests.
